Yes Gold.
Purely, I assume, because it was the first time in a long time that he chose to use gold paint!
I find it really fascinating that oftentimes the paintings Max does when he is feeling most at ease are the abstract ones. The ones which - to many of us - appear to be a painting of emotional release.
This painting, with its thick paint, its zig-zags and carved lines, was created when the artist was in a truly fabulous, happy, contented mood. He was smiling and humming away quietly to himself throughout.
What matters most though is how the art is received and what it says to you. Certainly for our Max, once the painting is done, that's his relationship with it over. He doesn't ask to keep any of his paintings and is happy for any of them to find new homes. It truly is all about the process for him.
Will you take this gold to be yours, with Max's blessing?
