A2 (42 x 59 cm) acrylic on canvas
by Eldest Sonshine, age 15
Welcome to a galaxy imagined by Maximus.
The last few months Max has had a painting routine for how he lays down colour and texture.
He begins with a safe, grounding, base layer of his favourite red. Usually it fills the whole lower portion of the canvas/paper. Then he adds purple, indigo, yellow and white; often in stripes but not always. Then he scrapes through the layers in some way and lets that dry before he chooses the final layer which gives the painting its detail / theme / story / character.
On this occassion Max was inspired to create a galaxy painting and did so using a few elegant sweeps of white with one of his favourite wide brushes and a final glowing star in the centre.
I think the simple white softly blended with the almost-dry coloured base layers looks so beautiful. What do you think?
If you can imagine it in your home or office or you know someone who'll love it, you know what to do.
