(30 x 42.5 cm) acrylic on board
by Eldest Sonshine, age 15
The colours in this fascinating painting are - to me - perfect for the month of October, when he painted it. There is still such dazzling, intense colour around in the natural world at this beautiful early phase of Autumn.
But this painting isn't of the colours we see out and about in the open air, but under the sea! And knowing this, we can see suggestions of vibrant coral reefs, sand, seaweeds and sea creatures including of course the focal character hinted here in dark blue on the left: a crab. The sweeping upward stroke of blues on the right is the wave.
The mark making in this one was just stunning to watch.
I'm sharing the email of the painting process with my email community - if that's the kind of thing you'd like to see more of, come and join us on email. It's such a lovely space, free from ads, doom and gloom scrolling and posts we have no interest in. Just sharing the frequent wonders of our creative, neurodivergent family.
