When I feel I need it to slow down I create my montage artworks. They have multiple stages; each one taking more time than the last. First comes the drawings (usually continuous line) which take between 10 and 25 minutes. Next I compile the drawings together into their black and white 'colouring book page' format which takes between 3 and 5 hours, and finally I digitally paint them. This stage can take up to 20 hours. I absolutely love doing them; I love watching the colours and textures come through from the black and white image. In a similar way to painting in real life with paint and a canvas, the colours in a digital painting go on in layers building the richness as it goes.

This montage image is available now to buy as a beautiful quality, bamboo eco paper print. It can be ordered from as small as 8 x 8 inches but I'd go bigger for this (and all my montage designs) so you don't lose any of the details. There's a lot going on here; many of the wonders of an English Country Garden - which is almost what I named this piece but I decided the Blue Tit really is the star of this one so deserves to be named after him. The reference photo for the Blue Tit drawing was taken by the brilliant photographer Mike Young and he kindly gave his permission for me to draw from his photos.

For me the rainbow tones in this artwork are representative not only of neurodiversity (which is uses a rainbow infinity symbol as its marker) but also of LGBTQ pride. The world NEEDS diversity; we are richer for it.
